Traditions

The weekend of July 4, 2009 marked a first for Greg and myself. It was our first Independence Day weekend away from Arizona. We were sad about a holiday away from everyone and about missing out on all of the exciting traditions that we had created while we lived in AZ. We started out our holiday weekend by taking a trip to The Getty Museum in Los Angeles. It was truly an amazing experience. The museum has tons of artifacts and paintings and we spent the day looking through as much of them as possible. Although Greg and I did make the mistake of not wearing comfortable walking shoes so after the gardens and by the fifth building we were walking very quickly and barely reading the descriptions of the artifacts! After the museum we went to Greg's office to put our feet up for a little while before we headed out to get a burger. We were so tired on the bus ride home we both almost took a nap! The next day we headed out early to the parade as we do every year except this year we didn't have any family with us and we were in California instead of AZ. After the parade finished we headed back home and relaxed and did house work until fireworks started. Normally we would drive to Williams and enjoy the fireworks there but this year we took a towel down to the beach and watched as fireworks exploded up and down the coast, it was truly beautiful. As we were headed back home Greg and I realized we didn't lose any of the traditions we had created in Flag; we just put a new spin on them.
